MESSAGE FROM THE ARTIST : Taken from the text “ Surprise! » written in 2018

…The road was long. I've come a long way, but here I am! Owner of an art gallery, located on the edge of the Chambly basin, in the heart of this magnificent center of culture and history.

This crazy idea of going into business started two years ago (in 2016), but my love for fine art has been there since I was a child. My parents instilled in me the importance of the values of education and culture from birth. My father often took me to various museums to see exhibitions of great masters: Cézanne, Renoir and Degas to name a few. Also, throughout my life, I have watched my mother create works. She was taking art classes at college in Texas. Sometimes I went there with her. I have seen him make sculptures, pottery, paintings with acrylic, oil paint, charcoal and watercolour, as well as greeting cards (made from the flowers of his garden). My mother was not lacking in skill or inspiration.

In fact, it was my mother, Jeannine Michaud, who inspired me in the decision to open an art gallery. For quite a while, she has been living in the darkness that comes from macular degeneration. She no longer paints. She no longer creates, but she still appreciates art and likes to discuss the articulated lines, the colors chosen and the state of mind of the artist in question. In the past, we explored the idea of having a “show”, a vernissage, to show his works to the world. "It's a wish (of many) on my life's Bucket List," I told him...

Clea has always loved photography. In his twenties, people around him encouraged him to the point of offering photography contracts. Then in the 1980s and 1990s, Clea captured people at marriage and baptism ceremonies for modest sums.

Mother of three young children, she had to find another source of income besides photography. Her work as a teacher was enjoyable and sufficient for her fiscal needs. But, the love of the clique has always inhabited him…

In his mid-40s, the opportunity to travel presents itself (the children are old enough to take care of themselves). Clea leaves with a group of students for Alberta on a cultural trip. The landscape of the Rocky Mountain province inspired him and the desire to photograph took over.

Since 2005, Clea has enjoyed photographing nature from various angles and perspectives.

What distinguishes Clea's pho'ART-graphy? His attention to the definition of lines, shapes, contrasts and textures. She captures figurative subjects by rendering them in abstraction.
