On the morning of November 25, on the eve of the launch of the Aux sources du Bassin de Chambly food drive, the organization was presented with the check for donations raised by La Galerie de Miss Rey during three artistic fights organized this year by its owner.

The amount of the check, which amounts to 567.50 $, was raised thanks to the participation of many artists and citizens during events initiated voluntarily by Clea Reynolds, owner of the gallery.

" On Burgundy Avenue, we are tightly knit! » – Pierre Cardinal

The difficulties overcome

“I made my first art battles (artistic fight) in 2019. So this is my third season. With the pandemic in 2020-2021, everything had to be reorganized. It created new challenges. Normally, I did this with six artists, and with the imposed distancing, this number was reduced to four, which generated fewer donations. When fewer canvases are created, fewer are sold. »

In 2020, she held her very first virtual artistic fight, since this format lent itself better to the health context. “The performance of each artist in action was then broadcast live, sometimes from their studio, sometimes at their chalet, then sometimes outside, near the pool! “recalls Clea.

“I so admire the people who have taken up this challenge! says Céline Bérubé, president of Aux sources du Bassin de Chambly. " It's incredible! When the initiative came to my ears, I said to myself ''what a good idea!''. I salute the ingenuity of Clea, to have thought of this kind of event and to have, at the same time, given back to the community. For Pierre Cardinal, Vice-President, “The mutual assistance between merchants here works very well. On avenue Bourgogne, we are tightly wovens! “, to observe the latter.

“What I like about artistic combats is that visitors who come there take the opportunity to get an ice cream next door, at FG Chocolatiers. Others will sit on the terrace of the Délires et Délices microbrewery for a drink. It brings people together in the sector while promoting a non-profit organization,” notes Ms. Reynolds.
