Biography
I was born in Montreal in 1942. At a very young age, my pencil was my best friend and drawing was my passion. I started my first brush strokes around the age of fourteen.
I also took a few semesters of classes in drawing at The School of Fine Art of Montreal. This eventually led me to become a graphic designer adn artistic director.
I had the opportunity during my career as a graphic designer to carry out many important projects, including some for the Government of Quebec and several large Quebec companies.
My art reflects the "fantasiste" style (fantasy) of my memories from yesteryear through my impressions and perspective of today. My inspiration comes from everyday things like bicycles, staircases, ice rinks and anything that may spark my creativity. Starting from my sketches, I transfer them onto black canvases. I use bright colored acrylic paints. Winter scenes are extremely important in my process as they allow me to use the "fantaisiste" approach to enhance the pure colors, distorted perspectives and angles. The characters that appear in my scenes are used in a stylish fashion, they are intriguing, reserved or simply in the background
My work has received many honorable mentions, distinctions and awards as well as being published in various magazines. My pieces are original, whimsical, creative. I truly hope you enjoy them.
