Self-taught, my thirst for learning led me to various teachers, as well as into various disciplines.
ARTIST'S APPROACH
My main source of inspiration is light. In a classical style, there's a long preparation process before applying the paint; studying the subject is important, as are drawing and perspective. Subjects that particularly resonate with me include horses, architecture, old buildings, and night scenes. Perhaps a bit of a dreamer, the sky has always held my attention, especially at night, which is why I try to depict it as realistically as possible.
My supports are generally cotton canvas, solid wood and wood panels, as well as acid-free papers. My preferred medium is oil, but I occasionally use watercolor, dry pastel and egg tempera.
My art is also my reason for being, a place where I constantly learn and evolve. I strive to never impose barriers or limits on myself so that I can always create new works. Looking ahead, I wish to share the brilliance of my creations with as many people as possible, while continuing to find joy and fulfillment in this art that is my life.
Biography
Born in 1950 in Saint-Hyacinthe, the artist now lives in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. She began painting in oils around the age of 12. A self-taught artist with a classical style, she furthered her training with various artists and later at art academies. Since 1995, she has devoted herself entirely and professionally to painting.
ANTO favors oil painting, but also uses watercolor, dry pastel, and egg tempera. Expressing himself through various themes, his scenes reveal a great attention to detail and a high degree of luminosity characteristic of his art.
She has received numerous accolades and several jury prizes, including national illustration and distribution in 2004, as well as the first jury prize with a gold medal at the Art Show Paris 2023 international exhibition in France. She was a laureate of the awards and received the Plaque of Honor with the European Award for Arts and Styles in February 2024, following deliberations by the Jury Committee, awarded by EDMC-Europe (Éditions des Musées et de la Culture). She was also a laureate of the awards and, after selection by experts and deliberations by the jury, received the Trophy for the 3rd World Day of Artistic Styles 2024, awarded on July 2nd by EDMC-Europe. She is again a winner in the Events-Artistic Competition category on October 16, 2024 of the "International Victories of Creation and Artistic Styles" 2024 by the Jury Committee of the Museums and Culture-Europe editions.
She was awarded the title of Master of Arts in 2020 in the United States, and her works appear in the books: International Contemporary Masters XIV in 2021 and XV in 2023. She was again awarded the High Recognition (Leonida) as a Master of Arts, becoming an Honorary Associate Member of the Accademia Italia in Arte nel Mondo, on December 7, 2024, in Lecce, Italy. She received the International Artist of the Year Award 2025 for her Artistic Merit in Florence, Italy, on January 25, 2025, from the Effetto Arte Fondazione.
She is a professional member of various associations, including the RAAV (Regroupement des Artistes en Arts Visuels) since 1997 and the Mondial Art Academia (MAA) since January 2020. Her work can be seen in galleries, as well as in art books, specialized magazines, and art calendars, in Canada, the United States, France, and Italy. She has also been featured on Télé-Québec, Studio Saint-Jean, and TVHR9. Her paintings are also found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States, France, Germany, England, Morocco, and Japan.
