Alexandre will end his journey on October 7 after walking Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie, part of Estrie, around Gasp\u00e9sie, Saguenay, the North Shore, Charlevoix, Quebec and Montreal to finish in Chambly at the Miss Rey Gallery. We invite the population to join us for his arrival and to thank him for his commitment to vulnerable youth.<\/p>

We know that when they leave the system at 18, many young people from the DPJ (vulnerable population) find themselves on the street. There\u00a0Laurent Commission<\/em>\u00a0also denounced this situation. The shortage of affordable housing adds an additional layer for a young institutionalized person, without work experience and often without a diploma. These young people do not have the necessary help when they find themselves outside of youth centers and are often without friends or family. Finding yourself alone overnight on the sidewalk at the age of 18 with your suitcase is certainly a shock for some of these young people. Many simply don't know where to start.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Cases of homelessness among former children of the Directorate of Youth Protection (DPJ) are even more numerous than previously believed. A new study reveals that 33 % of young people leaving a placement with the DPJ experience at least one episode of homelessness before the age of 21.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Homelessness was also much more prevalent (44.3 %) among young people who had lived in collective placement settings (youth centers), such as group homes or rehabilitation centers, than among young people who had lived in families. reception (18.5 %).<\/p>
